Family Minder puts your family on one private map, tells you when people arrive and leave, and looks out for new drivers. A phone always shows when it’s sharing, and nobody is located without agreeing on their own phone.

What it does

Built for a real family that relies on it every day, with the controls in the hands of the people being located as well as the parents.

  • Family location sharing

    Everyone on one map, with how long they’ve been somewhere and their phone’s battery. Sharing keeps working when the app is closed, and the phone always shows it’s on: a notification on Android, the location indicator on iPhone.

  • Driving safety alerts

    Drives are detected on their own, with alerts for speeding, hard braking and hard cornering, a score for every drive, and a warning when a teen is driving with no parent in the car. On Android it also notices phone use while driving and possible crashes.

  • Places and arrivals

    Save home, school, work and anywhere else, and choose who you hear about when they arrive or leave. Set one-off alerts too, like “let me know when she gets to practice.”

  • SOS and check-ins

    One tap sends an SOS with your location to everyone in your family. Parents can ask for a check-in that a kid answers with a tap, and set curfews and “hasn’t arrived” alerts.

  • Privacy controls

    Pause sharing and your family sees that you paused, not an old position passed off as current. Adults can go incognito or hide their location from particular people, and parents choose what the kids can see.

  • Works with your smart home

    Parents can connect Home Assistant or HomeSeer, so the porch light comes on when someone gets home or the doors lock when the last person leaves.

Honest by design

  • No stealth mode. A phone that’s sharing always says so, and nobody is added to a family silently: sharing starts only after the person reads what’s collected and agrees on their own phone.
  • Looking leaves a record. Each time someone opens another member’s location, our server records who looked and when.
  • Notifications don’t carry where you are. A notification says what kind of thing happened; the app fetches the details over a secure connection.
  • No ads, no selling. We don’t sell your information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers. Read the privacy policy for the details.

Android

Family Minder is in a testing phase on Google Play, so for now only invited testers can install it.
